| Johnson's Senate Seat Up For Grabs Finalists likely to be Rep. Lundberg and Mike Lynch |
Republican Party officials in Larimer County will need to convene a vacancy committee to appoint his
replacement in the State Senate. Johnson's 4 year term has 2 years left before the position will come back
to voters for re-election. Because Senate District 15 covers Larimer and Weld County voters, Larimer
County will need to follow the state and not county party rules when appointing the vacancy committee.
The vacancy committee is expected to deliberate and possibly hear from each prospective candidate before
making its decision.
