A campaign committee was organized that opposes Loveland’s
campaign finance reform initiative called Measure 2C. The anti-2C group
uses the name “Keep Loveland Local� committee.
Ironically, the yard signs that say, "No on 2C" and “Keep Loveland
Local� were paid for by Ft. Collins political activist and Realtor Eric
Kronwall. According to a disclosure form filed recently with the Loveland
City Clerk’s office, Eric Kronwall is the sole contributor to “Keep
Loveland Local� campaign. He provided $672 that was used to buy
yard signs that say “Keep Loveland Local.�
Kronwall, who lives, votes and works in Ft. Collins is currently the sole
financial contributor to the “Keep Loveland Local� campaign for the
first reporting period that ended Oct. 11, 2007. The Chairman of the
committee who is also active in Ft. Collins politics, recently purchased a
home in Loveland from Heckel Construction LLC.
Kronwall worked as the campaign manager for a Ft. Collins City Council
candidate and is well known in Ft. Collins both for his political activities and
achievements of being named “Realtor of the Year, Ft. Collins� for
2006. The organizers of Keep Loveland Local are attempting to convince
this community that Measure 2C is really the brainchild of Ft. Collins's
people instead of people in Loveland They have yet to offer any proof
backing-up this claim.
Who Is Funding Lovelanders For Fair Elections?
The committee organized to support Measure 2C “Lovelanders for Fair
Elections" received 25 contributions of $100 or less each according to their
filing with the Loveland City Clerk. 5 contributors were from outside
Loveland while 20 are residents of Loveland. In addition, the ballot
initiative was qualified by Loveland’s City Clerk after validating that 5%
of Loveland’s registered and active voters signed petitions asking that
the measure be placed on the ballot.
The steering committee responsible for obtaining thousands of signatures
from Loveland residents who supported placing 2C on the ballot is
comprised of only Loveland residents who are registered both as
Democrats and Republicans according to Larimer County records.
