Larimer County Clerk Scott Doyle called Loveland candidate for city council Joan Shaffer just before 8:00 PM to
congratulate her on handily winning her election to Loveland City Council. Other Loveland candidates began receiving
similar calls from the County Clerk in between the time initial 7:38 PM results were reported and before the more final count
was reported at 10:00 PM.
Mayor Elect Cecil Gutierrez gathered with friends and supporters at the Sports Station restaurant in downtown to celebrate
while winning Ward 1 council candidate, Daryl Klassen, drove by quietly peering into the windows. Klassen was travelling
from the Pourhouse Restaurant on 4th street in downtown Loveland to failed mayoral candidate Walt Skowron's house for
dinner. Daryl announced to somber losing candidates at the Pourhouse that Walt Skowron had promised to cook him
dinner and took a route by the Sports Station. Losing candidates Dave Clark and Bob Snyder departed early as well
despite promises to have a party regardless of the outcome.
Councilwoman elect Cat McEwen and her husband (pictured below) joined Mayor Elect Gutierrez's gathering while Joan
Shaffer toasted champaign with supporters at her husband's law offices a few blocks away on 6th street.
