Hey folks, if they aren’t going to get $900,000 back from a “Friend Of Council”, can they really be taken seriously when they ask for taxes from me and you?? I thought this was the “new” council, the one that was going to do things differently. Looks like the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Cordiality is preferable. I hope it continues, but it shouldn’t substitute for frank discussions that may need to take place. Return of Colorado V-Net’s $900,000 subsidy should be enough of a priority to warrant at least the attempt to get the money back. Does $900,000 not at least rise to the level of an agenda item for discussion? If not, can this council be fairly called “prudent stewards of the public purse”?

New councilman McKean’s fawning over the city mgr, the new mayor’s silence on the issue of setting council meeting agendas, the general tone of meekness by all new councilors… Let’s all hope they just have some growing to do.

It bothers me to my very core to think that council will rely on only city staff to set the agenda. At what point does the council take into consideration the thoughts and concerns of their constituants, this is a democracy and city staff are merely employees of the citizens.

City council should be willing to hear all concerns from their citizens, for if they don’t, they cannot portray having all of the information – both sides of the story – and without hearing the concerns and thoughts from it’s citizens from the citizens, council no longer represents the citizens.

Openess and honesty are the key features to any successful relationship and the need of some to keep secrets is cowardly.

No, it shows Larry Heckel is a man incapable of deductive reasoning as is the nut case who posted that message.

It doesn’t matter what he is talking about the form of what he says demonstrates his simple inability to reason.

If LovelandPolitics “has no credibility” than it would be incapable of undermining he or his colleagues.

Either the “organization” he refers to is credible and has undermined his effectiveness in the community or it lacks all credibility in which case no one believes the source thus nobody was undermined.

Deductive reasoning

You can’t have it both ways. In this case he needs to decide if it lacks all credibility or is credible thus capable of discrediting community leaders by its reporting on their activities in public office.
