Torsten Eckstein will announce his candidacy for State Senate District 15 this Sunday at Conrad Ball Middle School in Loveland. Here is the LovelandPolitics story.
He will be joining the Democratic primary to compete against Loveland attorney Richard Ball. This will make for an interesting primary as Richard Ball is said to have been recruited to run for the seat by Republicrats Don Marostica and Bill Kaufman (both former state legislators). Ball comes from an established and wealthy pioneering Loveland family while Eckstein is a self-made immigrant to America from East Germany who works at CSU.
Which candidate can now persuade the base he can best represent their values and ideals remains to be seen.
Any comments?
I support Richard Ball. Here is a letter I received from Bob Bacon I wanted to share with your readers.
Dear Joy,
I am writing you today in support of Rich Ball, lifelong Lovelander and Democratic state senate candidate for District 15. I hope that you will join me in supporting Rich’s campaign to work on getting Colorado’s economy back on track.
As state senator for District 14, it is very important to me that Larimer County’s legislative delegation be joined by an individual as experienced and talented as Rich Ball. His deep roots in Loveland and Larimer County, his public service with numerous local charitable organizations such as United Way and Hospice, and his broad experience as an attorney and small businessman give Rich a unique Northern Colorado perspective that our state legislature needs.
As state senator for District 15, Rich will advance a common sense agenda of protecting our public education system, increasing access to health care, and keeping Colorado a safe, healthy, and beautiful place to live. Rich understands that Colorado’s economic future hinges on protecting schools, fixing health care, and taking care of our environment.
Please join me in helping Rich start strong with a $10, $15, or $35 donation.
Rich is an extremely competitive candidate in District 15, and that requires all of us to pull together to send this community leader to the state senate to fight for us. He already earned the support of colleagues such as Sen. Brandon Shaffer, Sen. John Morse, former Sen. Stan Matsunaka and former Sen. Peggy Reeves. If we act decisively now, we will make sure that District 15 and Larimer County receive the targeted attention required to win competitive elections.
Please join in me in supporting Rich Ball for Senate with your donation. This race is critical to Larimer County’s and Colorado’s future.
Sincerely,
Bob Bacon
State Senator, District 14
Your message and Bob Bacon’s bring me no JOY.
Why would this guy announce at a school named for Richard’s father? Doesn’t make any sense to me and why mention this if you aren’t going to explain why it was ‘intentional’ as you say.
I can’t support anyone recruited by what you call “republicrats” because that means he stands for something different than me.
so i am going sunday (what time?) to see what this guy says.
I’m just glad there is so much interest in this political position. That means we may see a healthy discussion about what’s really important to democrats in the district, not some platitudes that don’t really mean anything. I’m not supporting either one right now, but I plan to listen to each candidate express themselves, then decide.
Marostica and Kaufman are cut from the same soiled cloth. They are a disgrace to the Republican party and to the city of Loveland. I wouldn’t be surprised if they also find a RINO to run against Lundberg as well.
Marostica for me is like that Jewish trader who collaborated with the Egyptians for money and informed on his own people in the epic movie on the life of Moses.
Just like that guy Marostica is always looking for the next business deal where he can sell a friend’s trust or pretend loyalty to the next regime in hopes he can live in an even nicer home.
I find it fascinating that McWhinney has come to own Marostica’s Waterford Place “affordable” apartment development off the 402 built on property that used to be in the flood zone. If people don’t think he is still collaborating with those people you are crazy.
Shame on Republicans for putting a snake oil salesman like Marostica in the legislature and shame on the Democrats if they put his puppet Richard Ball in the state senate.
Are you people really just that vulnerable and uninformed?
Don’t worry. When I meet a fellow Democrat who respects Marostica I will let you know but so far nobody I know. Now why are you trying to connect Rich Ball to Marostica? What proof Carol do you Have? When was the last time you saw them together? Kaufman I believe but I think Rich has been more careful than to associate closely with the likes of Marostica.
I see lots of dumb comments but not any proof. Mr. Moderator why don’t you remove comments from people saying things they cannot prove? There should be a higher standard here before people can just spout out about topics they don’t even understand.
High standards? Here? Hah!
Most people I talked to were surprised the CSU young democrats have endorsed Eckstein already.
Most the party leadership is already backing Rich Ball. He can defeat ubber-right wing Kevin Lundberg and Eckstein is unknown to most people. Ball is easy-going and gets along real good with everybody. He will not make waves but say what is needed to get elected in that district. He is also a man of great integrity.
We all need to get behind Rich because he is the only one capabled of beating Lundberg.

I love it when republicans give the democratic party advice. Concern trolling is fun.
I am curious to know how this illiterate effort, which engages in criminal activity, and violates its Terms of Service, can make the claim it it is a “premiere” web site.
