Across Colorado, from newspaper stories to blogs to the floor of the Colorado State Legislature, people are talking about Don Marostica’s latest verbal attack on leaders within his own political party. In taking a contrary position Marostica described his fellow Republicans as “Has-beens” and “Losers.”
LovelandPolitics archived stories about Marostica are receiving record numbers of visits as people try and understand who is this guy who appears to be acting so erratically in recent months and ask the question, “was he ever a Republican?”
The answer is complicated. Marostica once told Democrat rival Jodi Radke that he too was a Democrat only Loveland’s high number of Republicans prevented him from running as one. On nearly every issue other than 2nd Amendment, Marostica is an antagonist to his own party. Immigration (he supported HB 1313), Tax and spend, eminent domain and now TABOR are all issues where Marostica is fighting the Republicans.

The Reporter-Herald got “The Don” Marostica elected to public office by launching a smear campaign against Republican Jim Welker.
If you want answers to your questions pose them to “Mr. Ed” Lehman.
What do you expect? One problem the Reporter Herald didn’t count on was that hiding facts locally (like his getting rich on city council through influence peddling or not paying taxes) just delays his eventual outing and fall from grace. Someone from a town with a real newspaper would have never gotten so far!!
Find someone with integrity that merits public office for a change. I voted for Kevin McNaught after Welker left but don’t know what ever happened to that guy after he was barely defeated by Marostica.
Marostica is an embarrassment to Loveland and even Sterling where he was born. His life has been a series of failed get rich quick schemes where people lost everything they invested (remember Wellington Downs?) Until he discovered a Loveland City Council full of uneducated Hicks and an unscrupulous newspaper willing to endorse anyone they think will take out advertising.
Compare the Herald articles with the Rocky Mountain News story that reported:
“A prominent GOP lawmaker has gone rogue and will attempt to do away with a decades-old spending limit without any support from his party, the top House Republican said Wednesday”
“They’re has-beens. They’re losers,” Marostica said.
The Reporter Herald didn’t even report the outrage so they also missed the chance to report his public apology. Are people in Loveland dumb or just apathetic? How does Loveland’s own Pravda survive?
Saying Don Marostica is a Republican or Conservative is like saying Benedict Arnold is an American Patriot.
No single man has more betrayed the conservatives in Colorado than Donny Marostica. Always out for himself this low-life has taken on leaders of his own party and everyone else who stands by principle and called them “losers and has beens.”
Sorry Donny you are the “Loser and has been.” Any self-respecting respecting Republican would never vote again for a jackass who sits on the JBC and lets the Democrats control his voting arm. He couldn’t take the pressure and decided to become a sell out.
