Please feel free to comment here about any of the three previous stories of Marostica running for governor, Kirk Brush stepping down and Chad Washburn campaigning to be the next county surveyor.
Do you think Marostica can be elected governor? Do you support Larry Carillo as head of Larimer County’s Republican Party and who should the Larimer County Commissioners appoint to follow Donnelly in the surveyor’s office?

Are the Republicans out of ideas? I’m old enough to remember when they were on the outside looking in at all the powerful offices they couldn’t win. In those days, they had to have something new to say if they wanted to join the debate at all. Now we just have aging rich men who want to see their name in lights, but haven’t stopped to form ideas to help voters or solve problems. Marostica sounds a lot like McCain, trying to sound like an outsider, but voting with the other party on key issues and only acting independently on fringe issues.
He was just re-elected to the legislature, wasn’t he? Can he even run for governor?
Yes, why not? Many politicians you know well have spent most of their time in a legislature running for the executive job (Obama comes to mind) but there are many so it isn’t unusual.
I am concerned about the Lynch/Lundberg contest. On one hand you have people who believe Republicans need to act more like Dems to get elected. Being considered “effective” by shotty newspapers shouldn’t be a measure of success for anyone. Johnson is “effective” but only on issues where the Dems would agree anyway or he changed to their view. I don’t know of even one instance where these milk toast moderates like Marostica and Johnson advanced the party’s ideals. If Lynch is another milk toast kinda guy I don’t want him.
Other people called me tonight after reading this here. Thanks for the heads-up by the way about the endorsements since we got the letter also from the three – Rennels – Johnson and Marostica endorsing Lynch.
The party rules don’t give them the decision so it goes to us (precinct folks). Since those three would never ask our op[inion before making their decisions I am not interested in what they think on this. I am voting for Kevin.
Please give us Lundberg! Sure we’ll have to put up with his flat earth, earth is only 6000 yrs old views, but Senate 15 will be taken over the the Dems in 2 yrs. This is almost identical to the situation we had when Stan Matsunaka took the spot from Jim Roberts. The Reps ran an right winger and the Dems put up a moderate. Go Lundberg!
I received a letter from Kevin Lundberg that I thought was well written and described why he should be appointed. The fact is some conservatives (like Jim Welker) are not bright people and do themselves too much harm. Jim Roberts also was a nice man but not wise in the world at all. If Republicans are going to keep this office we need to elect people who have good values but are also worldly and wise. Welker and Roberts were niether.
I first saw Kevin when he was a broadcaster on the radio. Mr. Lynch inherited his Dad’s business and from I know never tried to run for any office before in Larimer County. He doesn’t appear to have any ambitions is too affraid of taking chances. We don’t need to appoint an amatuer to the state senate who has no experience and will just be carrying the water for Johnson and Marostica. You remember the 3 AM phone call debate in the presidential race? Well here it will be Lynch calling Johnson at 3:00 AM saying what should I say tomorrow on Ref C because I was against it before I was for it.
Kevin knows the legislature and has the experience we need. People who change positions and need to seek help from Johnson are not what we need. That is all I wanted to say. And thank you for providing us this forum.
IT HAS ALREADY BEEN DECIDED. LUNDBERG WILL BE IN THE SENATE AND BJ NOCHOLS THE 49TH.
I saw Don Marostica wants to cut our already woefully underfunded colleges from the state budget. Being 48th in funding for education isn’t enough. He wants to restrict access to colleges to the wealthy in Colorado. Good luck running with that platform issue Don! Colorado won’t vote this clown into the governor’s mansion.
