I couldn't believe that guy Councilor Klassen saying he only buys good deals!!!!! Who is he kidding? How terribly insincere of the city to say we now are not going to reimburse previous annexation negotiation costs but really just transfer that amount to the current cost by increasing the amount to a $125,000 cap. Unless the term "costs" is properly defined I guess it means the Olson family trust (who never had any intention of annexing into Johnstown)will now get the reimbursement they were seeking but just under a new definition. Please stop the shell games you guys - it really makes the city look bad. Loveland having to pay more to annex than Johnstown had to pay the last property they annexed is like a Mercedes dealer having to discount his cars below a Kia dealer to sell one. Maybe it isn't the product that is the problem but the management team they have working the "deal."

I have a question. Why did the sewer line cost estimate drop from $3.7 million to $2.7 million? Is this more convenient bookkeeping by our city manager or did I miss something.

Having investigated the feasibilty of the annexation of those properties I can tell you they have no real idea of what that sewer will cost, it would well be double or tripple that, there are not plans and technically its suspect because they have to pump all of 402 to the interchange and then pump it all back, which is a huge distance and contrary to good practice. This whole thing is a crap shoot and a bad fiscal deal for the City, only being done to feed the Pielin and Williams egos.

What is worse is how the city budget was shifted around so Don Williams could say it wasn't coming from other funds - well of course not since now they will be taxing the general fund for these costs that are not yet defined.
