Loveland's Five Candidates For Mayor Speak to Breakfast Club
|
Loveland - Oct. 12, 2009
The five candidates for Loveland’s mayor stood shoulder to shoulder early this morning at the Best Western Hotel in Loveland
to answer tough questions about the city’s budget, land speculation and the lodging tax on this year’s ballot.
The forum was hosted by the Larimer County Republican Breakfast Club. The club, founded by former Congressman Bob
Schaffer, recently moved to Loveland after the Ft. Collins restaurant where it met for many years, The Cottonwood, closed its
doors.
State House Representative BJ Nikkel hosted the event and read various question while each candidate was given two minutes
to respond to five different questions. LovelandPolitcs was the only media present at the event and has placed an audio link of
the event above for you to listen to at your convenience.
Unscripted, standing and without any kind of a lectern or podium, the candidates responded each to questions ranging from the
city’s budget to why the city purchased the 97 acres on the northwest corner of I-25 and 402.
The informal candidate forum, much like the city election itself, appeared to be a contest between Cecil Gutierrez and Walt
Skowron. Below is the order in which the candidates were standing. Thus the first question was answered by Glenn Rousey
then Cecil Gitierrez etc. The second question began with Cecil Gutierrez than Walt Skowron. Below is the order you will hear
the candidates responding to for each question.
Question #1 Glenn Rousey, Cecil Gutierrez, Walt Skowron, Alexi Grewal and David Clark.
Question #2 Cecil Gutierrez, Walt Skowron......
